Zazengo turns constituency management from a cost to a revenue stream for not for profit orgs. The opportunity presents many challenges. The Front-end UI Developer will be responsible for: • Working on a daily basis in the codebase, implementing new features, improving existing ones, refactoring as needed. • Working with the lead developer, and the back-end team to define/refine requirements and implement the technology plan. • Collaborating with the designer to implement comps that are consistent across all major browsers. • Being a core part of the in-house technology team, helping to maintain the live site while also pushing forward new development Zazengo is largely virtual with most of the team residing in Santa Cruz, Chicago, Salt Lake City, and Boston. |
| Required Skills: | Zazengo is seeking the right person to take our technical team and platform from beta through launch and scaling to sustainable profitability. The right candidate will combine the following: • An excellent working knowledge (and love) of programming CSS, XHTML, and JS • A strong understanding of emerging web technologies and best practices. • Familiarity with working in the front-end side of Ruby on Rails, or other MVC frameworks. • Strong background in working with open-source javascript libraries like script.aculo.us and prototype. • A desire to produce pixel-perfect implementations with CSS, standards-based XHTML, and unobtrusive javascript. • A passion for clean, simple, elegant and delightful design, at both the interface and code level. • Complete familiarity with "standard" development toolset, such as SVN (Git would be a plus), Trac, Basecamp • Familiarity with haml and sass will be a plus. • Excellent writing and speaking skills. • Experience in working collaboratively with virtual or largely virtual teams. |
